The BFA June Monthly Social, held at the Town Bar, Queensgate on the 28th of June saw the return of the Vintage Vocalist Paula Marie. Paula Marie is a very talented singer who was the musical artist who sang at our BFA Launch Event in November 2022. Paula Marie has a great range of songs from the 1930s through to present day.
With our theme for our BFA Summer Social being ‘Garden Party’, the BFA Committee put the bunting up, Paula Marie did 2 sets throughout the afternoon focusing on all the great eras in the UK that we have had large street or garden parties. From the end of WWI and WW2, The late Queen Elizabeth II Coronation, to her Silver and Platinum Jubilees to other Royal Celebrations and Marriages. BFA Members & Guests were treated to everything from Cole Porter to Vera Lynn to Abba!
There was a ‘Splat the Rat’ Game (no animals were injured in the process), which was kindly brought along by one of our members Chris. There was also a second-hand book stall, a raffle, some afternoon treats and the Town Bar was open serving refreshments, as was the Tea & Coffee Station.
We had special guests from the Local Community including a very talented local artist who brought along some of his work to show people, Woodland Creatures a small home business run by Lynda and David, who brought a selection of Soft Toys, East Riding of Yorkshire Council attended, as did friends and family of BFA Members.
It was a very enjoyable afternoon, Paula Marie as always was excellent, there was much foot tapping, singing along and some bursts of dancing. BFA will definitely be booking Paula Marie again next year.
