Buxton
Buxton lies just outside the National Park boundaries, but is the most important town for most of the western and central Peak. The town is situated in a natural bowl on the boundary between the gritstone and limestone areas. The River Wye has had to carve a gorge through the limestone to find an exit to the South East. At 300m above sea level the town is the highest town of its size in England. The town has a full range of shops, centred around a shopping arcade built over the culverted River Wye, just off Spring Gardens.
Set down point at ‘Sylvan Park Coach Park’ SK17 6BY.
Bakewell
Perhaps best known for its unique and delicious Pudding, Bakewell has many more tempting treats to offer – ranging from shopping and specialist markets to relaxing strolls and special events. Idyllically situated on the banks of the river Wye, the biggest town in the Peak District National Park’s mellow stone buildings, medieval five-arched stone bridge and quaint courtyards are a magnet for painters, photographers and sightseers alike. Set down point at Agricultural Business Centre, DE45 1AH.
Coach departs Bakewell at 5.00pm
